Many of us have our reservations about Dead Rising 3. For some, it’s the uncertainty the game will run smooth. For others, its the new, more serious direction in storytelling that makes us think it might be losing its identity. But, thankfully, above all, at least we don’t have to worry about hordes and hordes […]
Capcom has released its annual report, nattily titled ‘Feeling Your Power, Powering Your Feeling’, and amongst the usual financial reportage is an excellent page almost entirely dedicated to the hadouken meme that turned up on social media and in weird wedding photos earlier this year. Citing the trend as evidence of how passionate its fans […]
Acting as a prequel, Lost Planet 3 will explore some of the mysteries of planet E.D.N. III. It will continue the tradition of protagonist torment by battering Jim Peyton (no relation to the NFL QBs) with harsh, inhospitable environments. The hulking, multi-leg monstrosities are coming, but the cold, the cold will have your thermal energy reserves disappearing as soon as you step outside. Apparently freezing to death is not fun, at all.
Capcom revealed a new Strider coming in early 2014 for current and next gen systems at Comic-Con International in San Diego. The ultimate ninja, Strider Hiryu, returns to the futuristic, dystopian Russian setting in a new Metroidvania-style game being developed by Double Helix.
Ultra Street Fighter IV was revealed by Capcom. It introduces five new characters, Rolento, Poison, Hugo, Elena, and a fifth yet to be named in addition to a full game rebalance and new gameplay modes. The digital update and retail version will release early 2014 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
The world’s most popular fighting game tournament, EVO 2013, took place this weekend and it was the perfect time for Capcom to reveal four new characters for the latest upcoming Super Street Fighter IV update. The good news is the game is getting a complete balance overhaul which is not uncommon for Capcom to do […]
Finally, the wait is almost over. DuckTales: Remastered will release on August 13 for PC, PSN, and WiiU. The XBLA version follows up a month later on September 11. If you’d rather have a physical copy to throw in your vault of games, there is a boxed version coming on August 20 for PS3 that […]
Capcom’s latest remastered collection stirs up many memories from my days haunting video game arcades in the late ‘90s. Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom and its sequel, Shadow Over Mystara, were the kinds of games I’d drop a couple quarters in between turns against competition on my fighting game of choice. I worked at […]
Capcom’s zombie series that captivated their audience by allowing you to survive in a mall on the release of the original Xbox has lost a lot of steam since then. Dead Rising offered a lot of fun and zombie killing, but always felt a little to cartoony and the controls were a bit wonky. The […]
This new generation of zombies is deadlier and hungrier, so drive fast and look alive. Pick up whatever you can along the way, strap it to something else, and call it a weapon. The end of the world has never looked so fun.
It’s a wonder that Remember Me ever came out. Leading up to its release, there have been stories floating around about the myriad of publishers that passed on developer DONTNOD’s title. One publisher famously passed on it because “games with female leads don’t sell.” Somehow, the title found a home at Capcom, and it stands […]
Resident Evil: Revelations for the Nintendo 3DS was a great title. It was a graphical powerhouse (for a handheld), and it offered compelling, bite-sized gameplay (for a handheld). In short, it was one of the best Resident Evil titles of recent memory. However, Capcom just couldn’t leave well enough alone, and the decision was made to […]
A game embodying the meaning of pure survival horror. Highly-crafted environments, horrifying anxiety, and an intricate story weave together to create an immersive world that will bring players to the height of tension. The Evil Within is in development for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3, PC and next generation consoles and is slated for release in 2014.
Capcom and Valve are pleased to announce the Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2 project. This crossover project between two of the interactive entertainment industry’s most respected publishers will see characters from Left 4 Dead 2 featured exclusively in the forthcoming PC version of Resident Evil 6, while enemies from Resident Evil 6 […]
DmC: Devil May Cry is a great game. It proves Ninja Theory's capabilities as a character-action game developer and reinvents the series' formula for a new audience. Although fans that have a narrow view of what Devil May Cry is might want to start a riot when reading certain parts of this review (30 fps is a sticking point for many), it's a game worth anyone's time, fan of the series or not.
DmC: Devil May Cry comes out January 15th. This recently released trailer showcases some of Dante’s combat abilities, as well as demonstrating some aspects of how the different states of the game’s world interact.
