I was hoping in Star Wars: Darth Vader and the Ninth Assassin #4 that we would be getting the fight between Vader and the assassin. We’ve got to wait one more month for that. Despite my initial disappointment I really enjoyed this issue. It is almost a completely stand alone story that shows of one of the great sides of Vader. It does tie in with the story arc, but you can read it easily without having read the rest of the previous issues in the Star Wars: Darth Vader and the Ninth Assassin series.
What makes Star Wars: Darth Vader and the Ninth Assassin #4 so much fun is that we see Darth Vader in all of his power and darkness but still completely in control of the situation. He is actually remarkably patient for not getting what he asks for initially, but those who do not bow to the Emperor will ultimately face his wrath. Seeing Vader let loose without every using is lightsaber was also a fun change as normally he is much more hands on.
The other thing that is great about Star Wars: Darth Vader and the Ninth Assassin #4 is the anticipation is sets up for the next issue. We see Vader at the height of his strength about to walk into a trap that was set for him alone. Next issue we’ll get to see how that all plays out and it should be spectacular.
