Star Wars fans around the world can rejoice as the Star Wars Pinball tables for Pinball FX 2 have finally started to arrive. The first set of 3 tables spans the Star Wars franchise, with The Star Wars Episode V: Empire Strikes Back, Bobba Fett and Star Wars Clone Wars tables. Each table offers a different type of pinball experience and difficulty. But one thing they all have in common it that every aspect of them bleeds Star Wars.
I’ll start with my favorite table, Star Wars Episode V: Empire Strikes Back. I think I love this table the most because it really captures the best Star Wars movie and puts it into a fun interactive pinball game. Plus the table isn’t to fast or overly difficult, yet it still has some neat challenges to it. The main feature of the table is hitting to places to spell STAR WARS. Once you complete the name you can pick an iconic scene from the movie which plays back on the dot matrix screen and gives you a unique challenge. My two favorite are landing on Cloud City which when you hit the right ramp see’s the ball fly across the table into a floating Cloud City. Another fun scene is the Tie Fighter chase, where Tie Fighters fly onto the table and you have to hit a raised jump ramp to hit the Tie Fighters with the pinball. The scenes are challenging fun and unique. Oh and what would an Empire Strikes Back table be without a visit from Darth Vader.
Bobba Fett is my second favorite table. This is the hardest table of the bunch, but being an older Star Wars fans it was neat seeing other characters from the movie show up and even more fun finding all the iconic movie parts of the table, like the Sarlacc pit. As you play and hit certain parts of the table Bobba Fett will fly around and even shoot at the ball. There are missions on the table in the form of bounties and again Darth Vader shows up but also the big man, Jabba the Hutt. This is a fun table but extremely challenging.
The last table is the Clone Wars. While the table is fun to play as an older Star Wars fan who never got into the animated series the characters and story was unknown to me. That being said I still a blast to play and offers a ton of ramps and some missions that find the animated characters coming to life on the table. Even if you don’t watch the series you’ll still find a ton of fun in this table, and again the team did a great job capturing the look and feel of the Star Wars Clone Wars universe.
Overall these new tables are a blast to play. Any Star Wars fan will get a blast spending countless hours playing the tables. The team at Zen Studios did an amazing job capturing the look and feel of the Star Wars universe. The mission scenes on The Empire Strikes Back table are great and by far the best pinball table missions I’ve ever played. While I would have loved to see the original trilogy featured in these first 3 tables, it is nice to see other parts of the Star Wars universe come to life. That being said Zen Studios has already mentioned that there are more Star Wars tables to come, so lets hope we’ll be blowing up the Death Star in an Episode IV table in the near future! Either way this is a must buy for any Star Wars fan looking for a fun time!
