The Last of Us Delayed Until June?

According to the game’s product listing on Gamestop.com, Naughty Dog’s upcoming The Last of Us has been delayed until June 18th, about 6 weeks later than its previously-announced May 7th release date. We’ve reached out to representatives from Sony and Naughty Dog, and we will update this story as it develops.

Update: Tim Rauter of The Married Gamer Podcast tweets that he received an email from Best Buy confirming the delay:

Got an email from Best Buy today! The Last of Us is now releasing June 18th… pre-order delayed! – TR

Update 12:57 AM 2/12/13: listings for the game on both Amazon and Best Buy still maintain the game’s original May 7th date. Sources inside of developer Naughty Dog have refused comment.

Update 1:44 AM 2/12/13: We’ve received a scan of the email that some Best Buy customers received today regarding the delay of The Last of Us.

Update 9:20 AM 2/12/13: Best Buy’s online listing for the game has been updated to reflect a June 18th release date.

Update 10:46 AM 2/12/13: Gamestop’s listing is back to May 7th.

Update 5:10 PM 2/12/13: Had a chat with Best Buy’s online customer service. The results were…interesting.

    although true, like obsessedgeorge said, avoiding answering says more than just nothing. It says there’s something they don’t want to address. Likely that there will be one, or they’re considering one at least.

      I’m just saying your speculation was flawed I never said it wouldn’t be delayed. You happened to be right luckily this “silence means its true” strategy still has no credit because Last Guardian is still in development despite the rumors of cancellation and the impending silence.

        Yeah, you’re right dude. The Last Guardian was rumored to be canceled, but that was a rumor that fans spread around the internet. It was never a reality since every time Sony commented on the game being in development.

So Sony is going to walk out on the E3 2013 stage and after their press conference say, “Look for PS4 on store shelves next week!!” Bundled editions with The Last of Us for $499
