The Star Trek The Next Generation Doctor Who Assimilation series has been a little slow moving for my tastes, but issue #7 is by far my favorite one so far. The Doctor goes back in time to one of the most classic Star Trek The Next Generation episodes to get some data they need for the current fight with the Cybermen.  It was really fun to see the Doctor using a tricorder and in such a iconic Star Trek location.  That portion of the comic leads into some real action with the away team joining the Doctor on an incursion to the Cybermen ship.

This is where things start to get some action.  The Cybermen are immediately alerted to their presence and the race to stay ahead of them begins.  We get some great scenes with Data and Warf. Both of them are true to their character so seeing them in action is fun.  Data with his precise calculations and Worf with his tenancy to shoot first. The comic ends with our heroes split into two groups working towards where they can reset all of the Borg’s core programming.

With one issue left in this story arc I’m glad to see things are finally moving along.  Next month we find out if the Cybermen can be stopped, and if they can at what cost.  Will the Borg immediately turn on their new allies or will there be a break to their fighting?  Also, will the Doctor have to come up with another crazy plan to save them all, or will the current one actually work?  Despite my misgivings about the pacing of the series so far I am looking forward to finding out.
