Star Wars: Darth Maul – Death Sentence #4 was more like what I would expect from a Star Wars story.  Despite having his name in the title this issue is not solely focused on Darth Maul, but features Judd and Kenobi quite a bit.  With three different pieces of the story playing out all at the same time this issue balances all the parts nicely.  All of the main characters have their moment and while they may not all have gotten the result they were looking for the story arc has a good conclusion.

The most interesting part was seeing when the Moorjhon people realized that Darth Maul was not going to help them, but would instead let them all die under the heat of the 3 suns.  Their desperation let them to trust him when he was their biggest threat all along.  If they had realized earlier their might have been a lot less of them killed. Once they did recognize their error though they quickly changed to helping the Clone Troopers get everyone inside the mines.

The story ends leaving things wide open for more Darth Maul to come.  While he is fairly predictable as character it is still fun to see him fight with the various Jedi he meets. Eventually I’m sure Obi-Wan will catch up to him again but until then I think we’ll see him going slowly a little more crazy.  The Jedi made a couple remarks about him being half the man he was that seem to have struck close to home for him. Hopefully his next story arc will have some lightsaber duels.  They show off what Darth Maul does best, fight.
