Agent Cross is back in Star Wars: Agent of the Empire – Hard Targets #1. We last saw him in Iron Eclipse Vol 1. He is still the tough imperial agent but it seems like he, ever so slightly, might be starting to question the Empire’s use of his talents. Hard Targets #1 starts with Cross and Boba Fett in a fist fight. While we never find out what they are fighting about really we do see some hints at it later in the comic. It was a fun start and I hope we see more of Fett in the upcoming issues.
For once Cross’s mission actually went according to plan and things were going pretty smoothly. He completes the operation and no one has any idea that he was even involved. Plus, there is a lot of fun action in this mission as Cross is trying to escape. He is pretty happy with the results until he gets back to headquarters. It is then he finds out why the mission took place and how it relates to the Empire. Lets just say he is not overly happy about what he finds out.
Besides Boba Fett being involved and the action and spy thriller moments in Hard Targets #1 one then that was really great was how this is getting tied into the back story of Star Wars: A New Hope. There are some characters from the movie in the comic but younger. Plus, we are starting to see the seeds of people worrying about the level of power and control the emperor is trying to obtain. It looks like the Hard Targets series should be a good one. Agent Cross is a fun character who does not hide his emotions well so seeing him in action again is something to look forward to.
