**Update 4: Service has been restored. No word on the reason for the outage.**

**Update 3: Playstation Official twitter just sent the following tweet: ” We are aware that some of you are having issues accessing PSN, and we’re working to restore service to all. Thank you for your patience.”**

**Update 2: Some users are now being presented with a “Maintenance” message when trying to login through iOS App. Still no word from Sony on what the maintenance is and how long it will last. We would like to remind you that this message is generic and was displayed during the outage last year do the system hacking, so while this might be merely a maintenance outage, it very well could be a larger system issue

We were sent the picture below from Twitter user @frecle0_0

For the last hour or so Playstation users have been unable to login into the Playstation Network. Login is failing through consoles, Vita and even their website is returning a 500 error. Consoles users when trying to login are getting an Error 8071053D. This error suggests to reboot the system, reboot network devices, of course all remedies fail to fix the issue. There was no announcement about weekend maintenance and currently SCEA and the various Playstation social media accounts have been mum about the outage and when users can expect the service to return.

Could we be looking at another hacker attack? Or has the new surge in Playstation plus subscribers crippled their system? We’ll bring you updates as we find out more.

**Update 1: We are receiving reports this outage is due to a 14 hour maintenance and service should resume at 5am, though we can’t confirm this through any PSN channels These reports were based off an old maintenance delay**

Its definatly not maintenance because they would have told us that. And in April maintenance was the cover for the hacking.

That is our feeling, though we like air on the side of optimism sometimes :-/ But we feel maintenance isn’t the reason as it’s A a weekend, B coming out of E3, and C no word from Sony ANYWHERE

PlayStation Network is not available at present. This could be for a number of reasons including scheduled maintenance or essential updates and we apologise for the inconvenience caused. In the meantime, you can continue to explore the world of PlayStation at eu.playstation.com.Keep an eye on twitter.com/PlayStationEU for updates and the PlayStation Network bar at the top of the PC version of the site to find out when the service is back up and running.I found this at sony, hope it helps!

Thanks, unfortunately these are generic outage messages, they posted similar messages during the hacker attack of 2011, we didn’t know the real cause for days after outage. We were hoping after that Sony would be more transparent on network outages, obviously that’s not happening now.

Obviously it’s no maintenance, they warn us a day before every maintenance, way to keep your security walls stabled and strong sony.

OH SHIT WHAT AM I GOING TO DO FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS? DARE I GO OUTSIDE OR JUST PLAY A GAME WITH A SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN? It’s far less devastating as you’re making it seem, and yes, I’m not going to be upset because I have no right to be upset about a service offered to me completely free of charge.

The hacker attack last year was the scorn of the hacker community who were pissed about the removal of linux (rightly so). Sony hasn’t been up to any shinanigans lately. I’m sure their servers got hammered when they gave out 15 games this past Tuesday.

The implication of your comment here implies that XBL is some sort of impenetrable online network. There is no such thing buddy.

About 7 or 8 hours ago, someone uploaded a hacked PSN code generator to generate 50$ and 100$ wallet credits, for free.  Thanks a lot for us honest people who are now locked out of favorite online games.  May a hoard or Reapers from the Mass Effect Universe, harvest you a$%holes who posted that hack into oblivion.

Wonder if this happens to Xbox users, think I might have to convert over to Xbox.
