While Watch Dogs may have been the huge talk about title at this years E3, there was another title with dogs in it that was playable on the show floor. Sleeping Dogs which is brought to us by Square Enix. I got the chance to get my hands on it and it has a lot of potential.
A brief history of the title, it was original going to be the next True Crimes game. But due to high budget cost, Activision dropped the title and Square Enix picked it up and renamed it. It’s a open world crime fighting game with elements of street racing and other unique things. The story consists of you going undercover and infiltrate a local gang.
The game had the feel that is wasn’t completely done. The controls when moving around seemed kind of stiff. It wasn’t a fluent movement. The one thing about moving around in the streets is that everybody had a reaction to them once you touch them. If it was from a touch of the shoulder to a full out run into them. This gave the game a very realistic feel that I never seen in a game before. The combat in the game was a kick, punch or a grab. The combat had a nice flow, while I would be facing 5 enemies.
The game has a lot of potential. I always believe in the Square Enix brand but with the new Grand Theft Auto coming out this year or next, I wonder if this game will get lost.
