During our first day at E3 we stopped by our friends at Activision and had a chance to see more of Call of Duty Black Ops 2. Seeing the game in much more detailed compared to at the media briefings yesterday I was able to really get a good sense of the graphical changes and enhancements of the game system. Once the explosions start you’ll quickly notice the game’s new and improved lighting system, but you’ll also pick up the changes made to the games destruction as well. Drone weapons will riddle the streets and building with bullet marks, and cars will blow up with impressive smoke clouds and fire balls.
What I was really impressed with though is the new weapons you have at your disposal, from the badass sniper rifle we saw int he demo which can shoot right through objects when fully charged. Or the fact that you have drone controls on your wrist allowing you to lay cover fire or just take out enemies trying to hide. Black Ops 2 seems to maintain the series fast pace intense action many gamers have come to love.
One thing we did see that wasn’t shown at the media briefings was the games Strike Force mode. This mode is a quick objective based mode where you control a team tasked with doing different objectives. The map we saw the team having to take over 3 positions, as the game unfolded our team grew in size from both human and drone back-up. What was really neat is you could play any of the human fighters or drones on your team. You can also zoom out from the first person view to an overwatch view and mark waypoints or jump from soldier to soldier or drone to drone. Strike Force looks like a nice quick pick up and play mode and could be a great 1 vs 1 multiplayer mode……..
There is still tons of information still to come from the Black Ops 2 team from multiplayer to zombies!
