To kick off my E3 experience this year I had a chance to sit down with one of this year’s top games, Assassin’s Creed III. The hands on demo I played was a new 8 player multiplayer match called Domination. In this match two teams of 4 fight for 3 capture points.
The actual gameplay is very similar to past AC multiplayer action. You want to blend in and attack without your enemy knowing. However is you are defending a capture point an enemy can only stun you, if they take over the spot while you are stunned then you die. As with the past game there are many ways to stun including hand to hand ways and the always useful smoke bombs. Unfortunately the action in the multiplayer didn’t really lend itself much to those high flying crazy takedowns, but still back to back hand to hand strikes were really eye catching.
The game looks really good. We were playing on a PS3 and the map was a snow and ice-covered dock. I really love the revolutionary war look. From the people to the boats and environments. The team has done a great job recreating those images we have all seen in our history books.
Look for more Assassin’s Creed 3 as we get closer to it’s Fall launch.
