Do you remember the days when our planet was zombie free? I do. It seems like everywhere I go now, I need to avoid the living dead to survive. You may ask yourself now, what is he talking about? It seems like each day a new Zombie event is created. And maybe the coolest one of them all will be taking place during San Diego Comic Con.
Zombie events are on the rise. I remember hearing about zombie walks a few years ago, and now I see one popping up in each city. There is also a 5K Zombie run. In the run you have flags on you , like if you were playing flag football and you need to make it through the crowd of zombies without losing any flags. For these events the zombies are asked to volunteer. There is also a very cool event in England. Right outside of London somebody has turned a mall into a zombie experience, you and 14 others are left in a mall to defend yourselves from the dead. You get to use air-soft guns and need to survive for a few hours.
To celebrate the 100th issue of the acclaim series, The Walking Dead has come up with something very special for their fans. The Walking Dead Escape will be taking place during the four days of Comic Con at PetCo Park. It will be a 35-50 minute challenge to avoid the dead or should I say walkers? But it also gives you the chance to be a walker. They will have professionals on site to turn your living body, into a fearsome walker.
On the site they have a detailed map of the different sections you will need to go threw. From a horde to even a resupply depot. And at the end, they will tell you if you got infected or not. But for any Walking Dead fans, I think we all know the answer to this one. Also for making it to the end, you will get a copy of the 100th issue.
Comic Con is about the fans. Last year South Park recreated the town for its 15th year and now The Walking Dead is giving back. The price is 70 bucks to run through and there may also be a price to be a zombie, but no price guide is on the site yet. It will be interesting to see how many professionals and how many volunteers they have as zombies. I feel like this will be a very cool experience if done right.
