I’m going to tell you up front that there is not a way I can review this comic without some spoilers. So, stop reading now if you don’t want anything spoiled for you. Plus, since I’m going to need some spoilers here I’m just going to go all out and include a bunch.
Blood Ties: Boba Fett Is Dead #2 picks up shortly after the first comic’s ending. After all the action in the first Blood Ties: Boba Fett Is Dead the writers took a step back in #2 and filled in more of the back story. Issue one ended with Connor Freeman killed by a space ship after he was accused of murdering part of the team that killed Boba Fett. We quickly find out that was not the case on both parts. Connor was saved by the “trooper” who came for him at the end of issue #1, and we find it was someone else with his identity tags who did the killings. In both cases that person was Boba Fett himself. After Connor realizes this Boba fills him in on how he survived the group hunting him and who it was in his body armor. Boba then gets Connor to a safe planet and heads out to find out who was behind the plan to kill him.
For a series titled “Boba Fett Is Dead” it sure did not take long for Boba Fett to not be dead. Not that I think anyone is really shocked that that the famous bounty hunter was not killed off, but I just kind of figured we’d get all the details at the end of the series. I do like that they moved the story along and now we can get into the mystery of who is behind the whole thing and hopefully get some more action.
The graphics continue to be really great in the series. There is a slightly cartoony style to them, but things like faces and weapons have a lot of great detail when it fits the story. I’m really looking forward to seeing where they take the series in the second half of its run. It looks to be leading up to some good battles as Boba tries to solve the mystery of who had him killed.
