Image Comics is bringing us a 4 part series called Grim Leaper. The story is done by Kurtis J Wieb with artwork  by Alulsio Santos. Mr. Wiebe has worked on other Image Comics such as Debris, Peter Panzerfaust and Green Wake, while this is the first project for Santos with Image Comics. The catch phase for this comic is “A Love Story to Die For”.

The comic follows Lou Collins. Lou doesn’t hide anything from the reader. We find out Lou is cursed with the ability of coming back  from the dead every time he dies. Lou just doesn’t die, in the normal comic book sense, he always seems to suffer a Tarintino like death. While Lou is out grabbing a drink, he meets a girl named Ella who suffers from the same fate. Will the two find a way to stop this curse? Are the two meant to be cursed together?

The comic is a fun read. While reading it, it reminded me of Kenny from South Park. Kenny would always die on South Park and then in the next episode he would be back. The artwork is very well done. The use of colors made me stay on the pages a little longer. It was an enjoyable first issue and I am looking forward to see what happens to Lou and Ella in the next 3 issues.
