Linksys recently revamped their router line headlined by their E4200 router, that sports 802.11N and many other features to improve your home network. Now they are releasing the second generation of the router the E4200 V2, which has a couple tweaks and additions to further enhance and improve your home network. Two of the enhancements are upgraded wireless performance giving you 3X3 spatial streams are now included on both the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz band for faster wireless speeds up to 450 Mbps in each band. The other change is a new 1.2 GHZ CPU in the router which will vastly improve the speed of a connected USB hard drive when you are streaming picture, video or music.

The new additions to the router are the inclusion of mobile apps that you can get for your tablets or smartphones. These apps basically give you another way to monitor and manage your router instead of using your web browser.

The Linksys E4200 v2 Maximum Performance Dual-Band N900 wireless-n router is now available at major online retailers and at the Linksys online store for an MSRP of $199.99. I have been using the original E4200 for awhile now and must say it’s by far the best router I’ve owned. Between the speeds and the reduction of dead spots, it’s well worth the money.
