Late tonight Undead Labs released a blog post in the form of diary entries for a character in the game. It tackles situations like healing and death. Now they don’t come right out and say THESE ARE THE FACTS but they imply and suggest certain aspects of gameplay to keep discussions going, get people excited, and frustrate me so it is difficult to summarize.
One thing is clear though, death can be permanent. For a game that is trying to be sold as a legitimate survival/horror title and really impress people, it is really smart to drop a convention that is present in all MMOs. The fact that death may carry a huge penalty could greatly increase the appeal of the game and make every action count, no matter how far or good you are, that constant reminder will definitely spice up the world.
Anyways here are the potential facts. I stress that none of these are correct or incorrect for that matter, I am simply stating my gaming wisdom and reading comprehension skills.I have contacted UL to see if they will “clarify” any of my claims. By clarify I mean tell me I am wrong:
1. Headshots are kills. Aim for the head.
2. You can shoot off extremities, but they will keep coming regardless of what they are missing (excluding head).
3. Medical supplies are needed in the game and very valuable.
4. You can build structures that can ultimately fail, based on material used and type of structure.
5. If you are killed by a zombie you will lose some items but can still be saved.

6. Food will give you energy boosts.
7. You can carry food/medical supplies to keep you going on missions, but weight is a concern.
8. Your characters can be permanently killed.
9. You’ll get warning signs if you are near a permanent death.
10. If you do die permanently there will be a way to carry on your past progress.
