The MMO-style racing simulator game iRacing has been around for years, and now the game is entering its 2.0 phase and opening the game up to a wider audience beyond the hardcore racer. But don’t worry! The hardcore simulation racing of iRacing isn’t changing, but the team is offering more avenues for novices to learn the techniques required to race on NASCAR Sprint Cup tracks. To begin, all players have the ability to participate in a special iRacing Driving School which is free to all subscribers. Driving School took two years to create a 16 unit online driving instructional package. In Driving School you’ll learn things like Vehicle Dynamics, Fundamentals of the racing line, Braking, Downshifting, and other race weekend techniques.

iRacing 2.0 will be rolled out over the summer and will carry a slew of enhancements and new features that will not only make the game look better and more real, but also make car control more realistic. As of now, gamers can race a ton of different car classes from short-track Modified, Legends, Indy, Street, NASCAR Nationwide, Truck and Sprint Cup cars, and many others. Once you start your online racing career, you will start on the short-track Modified and make your way up the ranks. I really enjoyed our time with iRacing and must say it’s not for the faint of heart, but it will be loved by all racing fans young and old. The game not only looks great for a server based game, but also plays unlike any other racing game out there. There are a lot of neat features from creating your cars, to joining groups and playing with friends.

Now, while the cars are a big part of any racing games, you also need tracks to race on. And iRacing.com goes above and beyond to create these digital speedways. Each track is laser-scanned from real world tracks from all over the world. Each track is accurate to the millimeter. The tracks look amazing and you’ll feel and experience all the bumps and banks of them. The only thing missing is dynamic track conditions, but that is something that the team has planned down the road.

iRacing.com 2.0 really is the race fan’s racing game and the team at iRacing.com hope to bring even more changes to further enhance the realistic racing experience in the months and years to come. iRacing.com subscriptions are as low as $9 a month and you can try it out for $5 with this code “PR-FIVEDOLLAR”. Dust off that steering wheel and give iRacing a try. You’ll be hooked and find yourself running out and getting one of the many cool racing rigs for your computer.
