(36o/PS3)Mortal Kombat- I have been writing this off as “just another” Mortal Kombat game. Apparently I am the only one, because everybody I talk to is excited for this. The area that Warner Bros. had set up at PAX East was constantly packed, and people appeared to really love what they got to experience. I am not a big fan of fighting games because I’ve played people who memorize every combo and special move and make me look stupid, so unless I am fighting 10 year olds I really can’t compete. On top of the usual gameplay, they also added in a nice conquest mode that isn’t the standard gameplay where you would keep fighting up a tower of enemies to fight the best ones. In the new mode you are greeted with different types of games to play on your adventure to the top, which is a nice addition and adds a little more variety.
(360/PS3/PC/Mac)Portal 2- We also got to see this game in action at PAX East, we sat in a theatre setting and watched the game in action. No shock from Valve they have brought great humor to this next installment and the game had everyone laughing thanks to the great voice acting. That being said, guy who sat behind us the whole time WE GET IT, IT WAS FUNNY, BUT NOT HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA OMG HAHAHAHA funny. So please calm down. Along with the humor that Valve has presented they have also added co-operative gameplay. It has been estimated it will be around the same length as the single player from Portal 1. Meaning it can be anywhere between 4-10 hours, but half the achievements are co-op so you have a lot of replay value if you are an achievement hoarder.
