KontrolFreek’s Rcade Freek Hands On

The latest creation comign out of the KontrolFreek lab is the Rcade Freek.  Rcade Freak give gamers the ability to change their normal Xbox 360 or PS3 controller into a mini arcade styled controller.  Similar to the other products by KontrolFreek you get two Rcade Freak thumb stick adapters in the package.  They simply clip onto your existing controller thumb sticks and not only add leverage to your thumbsticks but also give you that classic arcade style feel.  The neat thing with Rcade Freek is it’s not really meant for your thumbs.  I found it best to put the controller in my lap and then use it like I would an arcade stick in my local arcade.  Obviously Rcade Freek is meant for any arcade based title on the console but it really shines in games like Soulcaliber and Tekken.  My only gripe with Rcade Freek is that the clips that hold it to your control are pretty tight, which is good when gaming but not so much when removing the adapter.  My one thumbstick now has a small chunk of rubber coating missing from the bottom edge of the thumbstick. This only occurred on the one thumbstick and might be due to the age of the controller, it’s an original Xbox 360 controller from day one buying the system.  Still when removing the adapted be careful.
Rcade Freek is a really neat product and it gives you a nice mini arcade stick feel in an inexpensive package.  No need to spend hunders of bucks on a full fledge arcade stick when a $9.99 adapter does the same job pretty damn well.  Check our Rcade Freek and the other KontrolFreek products on their website.
