Hey everyone. For those not following us on twitter you might not have known that I took a break from my vacation to stop by and visit the fine folks at EA Sports Tiburon in lovely Orlando Florida. The great team over there really went above and beyond to show us some of the great things going on for EA Sports MMA, as well as see the teams hard at work on next years installments of Tiger Wood 12, NCAA Football 12, and Madden NFL 12. While its WAY to early to talk about the 2012 games, as many of them are still in fairly early planning, we can say that the teams are listening to the feedback of the community on not only sites like ours, but also on the EA Sports forums. While we spent 5 hours seeing everything that goes on at the studio there were some things that really stood out. Once I get back to New York we have some pretty neat video of the studio and all the great folks who create the great games we play, from the team creating those great trailers and game videos, to the studios Rating Czar, yes thats his title, he;s got a business card to prove it!
While a good chunk of our time was spent with Rocky Rivero one os the Designers of EA MMA, and he gave us a great look into this amazing fighting game. We also got a great look into how the Tiger Woods team turns real world courses into digital version. It’s amazing how much time goes into scanning and then translating very high detailed scan data into those great looking pixels on our screen. Did you know it takes about 8 days for the team to scan an entire course? Also the team not only scans each green to get highly detailed terrain data, but then they photograph EVERYTHING, from the simple tee markers, to trees, to houses and building around the course. All this data and pictures are combined to create the digital world we play in.
Once I get back to New York next week, I will be burning the midnight oil to get these videos edited down and posted for your enjoyment. Make sure to keep an eye out here or follow us on twitter(@vgrevolution) for when the videos are posted. Until then check out some of our pics from the tour.
