Recently I had a chance to spend a little time with Gran Turismo 5 for the PS3, which is due out later this year. As one of the top racing series on the market gamers have been chomping at the bit for the latest title of the series. That wait is almost over and I’m glad to say that it has been well worth the wait.
While at E3 last month we had the chance to get a small taste of the game. GT5 has put a big emphasis on offering gamers as many possible types of race cars to jump into, from the tuned street cars, off road rally cars, to the first time offered in a GT game NASCAR stock cars. Being a NASCAR fan the first thing did was jump behind the wheel of Dale Earnhardt Jr’s number 88. The NASCAR offering isn’t to the level of a full fledge NASCAR title. The final version of the game will only offer up a handful of NASCAR tracks (the popular ones) and only a handful of cars, don’t expect a full 42 car field. But don’t worry the action on the track is great and very fulfilling. The details that have gone into the tracks and each car are mind boggling. And the worst part is NASCAR fans will be chomping at the bit for more!
GT5 is offering up one of the most impressive line-ups of automobiles all with incredible details both inside and out. The interiors are unique and life like for each and every car in the game. There is so much eye candy that I found myself not paying attention at times.
The actual driving in GT has always been one of the games strong points, offering gamers the most realistic driving simulation out there. And GT5 keeps that trend going. Each car you jump into will offer a different driving feel, and all can be tuned to your liking.
It was unfortunate the E3 demo was short as I would have loved to get hours behind the wheel. Gran Turismo 5 is truly looking amazing and the long wait has been worth it.
