I probably should start by giving everyone a fair warning. I am a huge Defense Grid fan. I have it both on Xbox Live Arcade and PC, and I’ve completed all of the achievements on the Xbox Live Arcade version. So, you can guess that when I heard the Defense Grid: Resurgence DLC pack was coming out I was pretty excited. The Defense Grid: Resurgence maps were released in sets of two each week in June. There are 8 new maps in total and five new achievements with each map sporting its own leaderboard.
If you’ve played and enjoyed Defense Grid the the Resurgence maps are well worth the $4 for all of them. Eight maps may not sound like a lot compared to the dozens in the full game but since each map has multiple modes to complete you are getting quite a bit of new content. It had been a couple months since I has spent any significant amount of time playing Defense Grid so I was a little rusty, but all of my strategies came back quickly. However, these new maps are quite challenging and require some new strategies as well as modifying old ones. They are not so hard that you completely fail the map but getting a Gold Star is quite difficult. This is not a complaint as part of playing a tower defense game is working out a successfully strategy. Just a warning that you are not going to be able to breeze through these new Defense Grid: Resurgence maps.
The new achievements are for getting gold medals on each map and the getting golds on every mode available for the last map. So these achievements are going to take some serious effort to complete. Fortunately in working towards the achievements you have the new leaderboards to see your progress compared to your friends. Defense Grid is one of the best tower defense games currently available and the Defense Grid: Resurgence map packs only make it better. For the price, you are getting a lot of hours of new game play. Personally, I highly recommend getting the Defense Grid: Resurgence DLC.
