Zombie Driver Review

Zombie Driver is one of those games you just love to play in your spare time. It’s simple yet gut wrenching gameplay make it easy to kill well over 4-5 hours mowing zombies down left and right. So if you haven’t figured it out yet the overall concept of the game is to drive a car and kill zombies. Pretty simple story line and for those of you that have played the original GTA’s you will feel right at home with the driving and mission structure. You will be picking up people, sideswiping hordes of zombies and many other challenges in order to complete your goals. But you get a little more than just a car to wreak havoc. Cars can pickup upgrades to allow gunfire and other weaponry to destroy the masses of zombies.

Of course zombies are the big enemies here and you will destroy a lot of them. They range in different sizes and features, which are noticeable down to the tiniest pixel. They have such care put into them that you will notice some having different styles of clothes and of course different shape in size. Some will throw projectiles while others will just bash in your car showing brute strength, but most will just get in the way and die.

Control wise you use the standard keyboard to move about and you can click the mouse to do a power slide as well as to fire weaponry. These work surprisingly well despite the lack of an analog stick. Although it would have been nice to add the support of a controller, it doesn’t hamper the game play too much to make it a hassle.

Visually the game looks depressing, but in a good way. It shows despair a war torn or zombie torn city in this case with tons of carnage strewn about, which you can also destroy. Taking out fences and finding shortcuts is a blast watching them shatter and fall about a yard. The same can be said about the audio for the game. While no soundtrack is in the game you are given the pleasure of hearing human bodies smash up against your hood.

So let’s count it all up. 17 story missions with numerous side quest, 7 different cars and 9 different upgrades for them which also has 3 upgrades.  Wonderful free roaming game play and numerous types of zombies to kill, even dogs.  This is a lot for the low price of $10. Zombie driver is a great gift for the holidays and is a must have for any fan of zombies or classic GTA style driving.
