Due to the recent Christmas terror plot aboard an international flight to the United States it is being reported by passengers through blogs and twitter that some new rules have been put in place regarding ALL electronic devices. TechCrunch first reported the bans of any and all electronics during flights(and even locking of bathrooms prior to approach) yesterday. While the ban doesn’t seem to be officially set in stone yet the TSA website does state due to the recent events:
During flight, passengers will be asked to follow flight crew instructions, such as stowing personal items, turning off electronic equipment and remaining seated during certain portions of the flight.
It seems the bans have been on a flight to flight basis, so be prepared not only to be waiting in lines longer but also you might need to stow those new PSP and DS games while in the air. Again this isn’t a full out on the books ban yet, but more of a suggestion for international flight crews. While I understand that they are trying to keep everyone safe, where do we draw the line? No carry-ons and you have to wait for the bathroom till you land? There are many more logical ways that won’t hamper peoples comforts, starting with employing a much higher qualified screening staff, to investing money in better screen technologies.
