Nintendo kicked off the holiday very strong by taking the top two spots in hardware sales for the month of November according to the NPD Group. The Wii sold about 1.25 million units, bringing it’s total user base to more then 23 million. But coming in first place in hardware sales for the month was the DS/DSi with nearly 1.7 million total units sold, which also broke the handheld’s sales record of 1.57 million units sold last December. Meanwhile 4 Nintendo games landed in the top 10 for software sales, with The New Super Mario Brothers debuting at number 3 with about 1.4 million copies sold. These strong sales of Nintendo products obviously shows that shoppers are trying to save a few bucks this holiday season by choosing the lower priced consoles and handhelds.
