7 Games You Should Watch For This Fall

Well it is officially Fall, and over the next few months there is a wide range of games slated for release.  Here is a look at some games you might want to keep your eye on this fall, in no particular order.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
Operation Flashpoint is a critically acclaimed PC game, that is many years old.  The game has always focused on realism and sim war fighting.  And with war being so big so is the game.  Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is the series first time out on a console.  We had some time with an early version of the game at E3, and over the past weeks have seen tons of videos.  The game is huge!  It might not have the graphical perfectness of others, but the attention to detail and again the sheer size of the game puts other war shooters to shame .  If you are an army buff this is a title worth looking at.

Boardlands
A sci-fi shooter that features 4 player co-op.  Boardlands also take a rather artistic approach in presentation, going with cel-shading which makes the game unique.  It also seems that the game doesn’t just focus on shooting and pure violence to sell copies, but the cast of characters seem to be weel develop and will offer gamers so brutal comic relief.

Forza Motorsports 3
Forza has been around for ages, and with every version the game looks better and better.  Forza is going to feature all the great customization fun that has been in games past, coupled with some new video features and somewhat sharper graphics.  Again having played it at E3, if you enjoyed Forza pasts, you’ll enjoy Forza 3.  It might not have the great improvement jump, but again many details have been focused on and popular aspects like paint and design have been widely expanded.  If it wasn’t broke they didn’t fix it, which is a good thing.

Grand Theft Auto 4: The Ballad of Gay Tony
GTA has been and will always be an amazing series.  This Fall we get the latest and last bit of DLC.  Again we are treated to a new characters storyline all within the city we have come to know and love. With some new goodies at our disposal to destory the city, we look forward to other announcements in the coming weeks.

DJ Hero
To think it all started with a guitar many years ago.  And now the latest music rhythm game will turn all gamers into DJs.  Truthfully I’m still on the fence with this game.  Personally I’ll enjoy it as I’m a fan of the club/house/remix scene, but that scene is rather small.  Also do people really want another music peripheral?  Don’t get me wrong, the game looked and sounded solid at E3, but I’m still skeptical on weather it will have the mass appeal that Guitar Hero had many years ago.

Call of Duty: Modern Warefare 2
Lets face it when MW came out a few years ago it was an instant hit.  the COD series was always focused on the past and for once we got a solid game putting once in current time.  But it wasn’t only the games time that made it an instant hit, its online multiplayer mode was the money maker.  Infinity Ward did online right.  We were given not only great looking great controlling play but also an incredibly fun fast paced game to play.

Assassin’s Creed 2
Again a game that became an instant hit.  Assassin’s Creed is a game that has a deep compelling story all given to us in an amazing looking package.  Granted the first game had its repetitiveness, but it was so much fun and it looked so damn good.  Well AC2 is building off the strong foundation that is in place and giving us even more.  We’ll have new weapons, new ways to fight, and now gadgets to have some fun with.  Oh and we are no longer scared of the water!

Well that is 7 games, but there are so many more slated for a Fall launch that I just need to mention them.  And I’m sure I’ll be raving about them as the weeks unfold.  We’ll also be seeing Left 4 Dead 2, Tony Hawk Ride, Avatar: the Game, and The Saboteur just to name a handful more that you might want to take a peak at.
