E3 2009: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Well its been a few days, since we got back and I’ve been reflecting/ answering peoples questions about my trip to E3.  So here is a good reflection on what we saw.

THE GOOD

Microsoft killed the show, yes Sony had some good stuff, but the Xbox was super strong.  With Project Natal really pushing the gaming experience to the next level, to the solid games right down to this summers Xbox Live Arcade games, the xbox is going to to be very strong this year.
Many have been bashing the facebook and twitter integration, I think its very good and should have been there much sooner.  We are living in a social connected world these days and Facebook and Twitter are kings right now.
The other updates like Netflix, SKy and Video downloads are also going to further the entertainment factor of the Xbox 360.
As far as games go, Madden 10, Dirt 2, NFS: Shift, Split Second, Splinter Cell, and Assassin’s Creed were the top games shown(at least as far as games that are due out soon, obviously Halo Reach is gonna be big but thats far off)
Xbox Live Arcade is also getting some real amazing looking games this summer, with Trials HD being my favorite of the show.
Star Wars The Old Republic=AWESOME

THE BAD

I haven’t been a Nintendo player in awhile but they truly didn’t do anything for me.  The new Mario is nice but nothing super, and really doesn’t use the wiimote to the fullest.
Sony had some good game, Uncharted 2 and God of War 3, but their attempt at motion control just fell flat.
Watching everyone with an Ubisoft appointment get to play with Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed 2, next year we make more appointments.

THE UGLY

On Live thought they were more important so they got a bunch of local bums to hand out stickers on the corner in front of the convention center, yeah good marketing move dummies.
The last day to many kids(yes there were kids on the floor) and people with other people badges.

OVERALL

THis was our first trip of E3 and we had so much fun.  Now that we’ve learned some things and made some contacts I can’t wait to go back next year.
